My research focuses on obesity as a chronic condition resulting from an imbalance between energy intake and expenditure, leading to fat accumulation and increased risks of metabolic disorders. I examine drug-based treatments, such as lorcaserin, and the role of vitamin D in brain pathways regulating food intake. I also explore the link between obesity, inflammation, insulin resistance, and bariatric surgery outcomes. Lastly, I assess obesity’s impact on COVID-19 severity. Overall, my research highlights potential treatment targets and the importance of personalised approaches based on metabolic and genetic factors.
