Studying the role of the gut microbiome and virome (bacteriophages) in cardiometabolic diseases, including obesity, diabetes, and MASLD, mainly through human intervention studies. Interventions include fecal microbiota transplantation via enteric capsules, next-generation beneficial microbes, and microbial metabolites such as 6-bromotryptophan. In addition, stable isotopes are used to further illucidate alterations in metabolic pathways.
