The database holds information about the type of research that is done by the included individuals, namely: diseases, topics, techniques, and cells/tissues. The location and email address of the researchers are only visible to logged in researchers of AGEM (see below).

Introduction

The Amsterdam Gastroenterology Endocrinology Metabolism research institute, hereafter referred as AGEM, we or us, part of the Amsterdam Medical Center, is located at Meibergdreef 9, 1105 AZ in Amsterdam, legal entity under public law, acting under the name AMSTERDAM UMC and registered with the Chamber of Commerce under the number 34362777 and part of the VU Medical Center, located at the Boelelaan 1117, 1081 HV in Amsterdam, legal entity under public law, acting under the name AMSTERDAM UMC and registered with the Chamber of Commerce under the number  64156338, hereinafter together referred to as “Amsterdam UMC”. AGEM is the controller of the personal data that is being collected through this website further processed.

The purpose of this website is to create a superb environment for researchers enabling high level multidisciplinary fundamental, preclinical and clinical research on aspects of gastroenterology, endocrinology and metabolism. For that purpose we build a searchable database for our researchers and people outside of the Amsterdam UMC to increase the visibility between researchers in relation to the research they conduct, in order to promote collaboration in research, related techniques and potentially public private partnerships. This website is firstly for the employees of Amsterdam UMC which are engaged in research regarding the aforementioned. Secondly, this website is a tool for external researchers and organizations to find out more about the research being done at AGEM. If these external parties would like to reach out to the researchers included in the database, they can use the general AGEM e-mail address. AGEM is committed to ensure the protection of  the privacy and the processing of the personal information (referred to as "personal data") that is being collected through this website in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other applicable privacy and health regulations.

In order to be of service specifically to employees of Amsterdam UMC with this database, it is necessary that AGEM processes (collects and stores) personal data. Personal data is data that can be traced to an individual (for example, your name and your e-mail address). According to the GDPR, AGEM, as part of the AMSTERDAM UMC, is the data controller with respect to your personal data. In this context, AGEM ensures that the collection and further use of these personal data is carried out with care, in accordance with the applicable privacy regulations. The AMSTERDAM UMC has appointed a Privacy Jurist. In this privacy statement AGEM informs you about how we collect, use, share and protect personal data, what your rights are and how you can use them. This privacy statement applies to this database.

Personal data, purposes and retention periods

In this database, AGEM collects only personal data necessary for the use of this database. The website on which the database is placed does not use any mechanisms for tracking or identifying visitors on its website. User logins are not registered. The only cookies we use are so-called 'session cookies', which make the website more user-friendly. They are automatically deleted after your visit. Data will not be provided to third parties. Your personal data will not be used for purposes other than the purposes for which you have provided them to us.

You have the following rights with regard to your data in this database: access, adjustment and removal data: with your login and password you can always access your data and you can change and/or delete your own data if necessary.

  • Delete: If you no longer consent to the processing of your personal data by AGEM or if you believe that processing of your personal data by AGEM is no longer necessary for the purpose for which you provided it to AGEM, or is being unlawfully processed, you can remove the data yourself or ask AGEM to delete the personal data concerned.
  • Objection: If you have any doubts about whether your data is being processed by the AGEM, you can object to the processing of your personal data.
